Annual Workshop for Journalists Eligibility & Application
Journalists from all media who want to improve their skills in environmental reporting are invited to apply for a Metcalf Institute fellowship for the Twelfth Annual Workshop for Journalists, to be held June 6-11, 2010.
Eligibility
Annual Workshop Fellowships are available on a competitive basis to print, broadcast and electronic journalists with a demonstrated interest in environmental reporting and who wish to gain understanding in coastal environmental topics, scientific method, and the translation of science for public audiences.
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of professional journalism experience.
There is limited space for non-U.S. professional journalists in the Annual Workshop for Journalists. Non-U.S. citizens who apply must meet the above requirements and, additionally, have fluency in spoken English and be able to arrange for travel to and from the United States.
Application
Interested journalists should fill out the application form and complete all items required on the application, including a list of jobs in journalism, a resume, an essay, work samples and letters of reference. The original package and three copies of the original package were to be postmarked by January 19, 2010 for the Twelfth Annual Science Immersion Workshop for Journalists. Detailed instructions will be on the application form.
Applicants from countries other than the U.S. and Canada may request permission to send an application in pdf format by sending an e-mail to fellowships @ metcalfinstitute.org.
